The inside-out combination of guard Nick Velasquez and post Kupono Fey combined for 33 points and 4 three-pointers as Punahou raced past Kapolei on the first day of the Na Menehune OIA/ILH Challenge at Moanalua High's gym.

Punahou got 7 points or more of offense from 6 players against Kapolei, including 9 points (2 threes) from Kanawai Noa, and a trio of triples from Dayson Watanabe good for another 9 points.

Leading 22-12 after one quarter, Kapolei managed to keep pace in the second and third quarters, outscoring the Buffanblu by a 32-31 margin. But Punahou would put the foot on the accelrator again in the fourth, using a 19-10 advantage to seal the deal.

The Hurricanes has a trio of scorers in double-figures, led by Elijah Gipson (15 points). Zachary Reeves scored 14 ooints and Christopher Dilard added 11 points and 2 threes.
